About Us
Privacy Policy

The following statement describes Union Privilege's privacy practices for the Union Plus Web site at: http://www.unionplus.org. If you have any questions, please contact us at our postal address: 1125 15th Street, NW, Suite 300, Washington, DC 20005 or info@unionprivilege.org. Thanks for your interest and involvement.

Name Clarification

Union Privilege was created by the AFL-CIO to provide consumer benefits called the "Union Plus benefits" for current and retired union members and their families.

E-mail

Our site does not automatically recognize your e-mail address. You only receive e-mail from us if you check a box indicating an interest in a particular e-list. We collect the e-mail addresses of those who communicate with us via e-mail and online forms, including those who specifically check a box to subscribe on our online forms (for example, our E-News sign-up form).

Any user who signs up for E-News from Union Privilege can unsubscribe or manage his/her subscription by linking to the personal URL e-mailed to all subscribers. Every e-mail sent by Union Privilege also includes information about how to stop receiving e-mails from us. When you subscribe, you opt-in to receive Union Plus member benefit offers.

If you sign up for Union Plus emails, you can expect to receive emails from info@unionprivilege.org and/or enews@unionprivilege.org. Please update your email address books and "safe" lists as appropriate. These instructions may be helpful. Union Plus E-News is sent on a monthly basis and the Union Plus Leader Update is also sent on a monthly basis.

We do not share the e-mail addresses we collect with non-Union Plus benefits organizations.

Domain Name

For each visitor to our Web page, our Web server automatically recognizes only the user's domain name, but not the e-mail address (where possible). Through our Web logs, we do not collect individual information about you or your use of this site.

We collect only the domain name, the e-mail addresses of those who communicate with us via e-mail, aggregate anonymous information on what pages users access or visit, and information volunteered by the site visitors, such as survey information and/or form submissions.

The information we collect is used to improve the content of our Web page and notify interested visitors about updates to our Web site; we do not share individual personal information with other organizations for marketing or commercial purposes.

From our registration forms (e.g. off the home page, legal page and entertainment pages), we set cookies based on whether you submit information, cancel or press the "do not show again" button. A cookie is a small amount of data that is sent to your browser from a Web server and stored on your computer's hard drive. Cookies are used to help personalize the online experience for the user - based on the action you request. If you submit your name and union affiliation, you receive a customized home page with your union's eligible Union Plus benefits and a short welcome message with your name. We do not share this information with outside organizations.

Mailings & Telemarketing

We also understand that you may prefer not to get more U.S. postal mail or telemarketing calls. To remove your name from Union Plus mailings and telemarketing lists, link to our mail unsubscribe form in the Customer Service area of our Web site.

This mail unsubscribe is only for Union Plus mailings and telemarketing. If you want to stop receiving your union publications, contact your local and/or international union.

Personal Financial Information

Union Privilege does not collect any credit card information on the Union Privilege Web site. Some of our program providers (linked from the Union Plus site) collect credit card information online; while Union Privilege does not directly control the sites developed by our program providers, we ensure that any information about union members is treated with the proper security and privacy.

Other Personal Information

You do not have to provide any personal information on our Web site unless you choose to do so. We ask for name, address and comments on our feedback and other forms, but we do not collect any sensitive information like your credit card or social security number.

With respect to Ad Servers: We do not partner with or have special relationships with any ad server companies.

Following are privacy statements from the Union Plus program providers that have online user forms and are linked from the Union Privilege site:

Updates

From time to time, we may use customer information for new, unanticipated uses not previously disclosed in our privacy notice. If our information practices change at some time in the future we will post the policy changes to our Web site to notify you of these changes and provide you with the ability to opt out of these new uses. If you are concerned about how your information is used, please check back at our Web site periodically.
